Darrell Lynn Williams, age 73 of Purcell, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2013 at his home. Darrell Lynn Williams was born March 15, 1940 in Dibble, 1 of 5 children born to Farrell and Gladys Williams. He was raised in the Blanchard and Dibble area and attended Dibble Schools, graduating in 1958. After high school, Darrell attended the University of Oklahoma for a couple of years.
Darrell married Carolyn Willean Henagar on September 17, 1979, in Gainsville, TX. Together they raised 2 children, son Gary and daughter Sandra.
Darrell worked as a self-employed carpenter for many years, building many homes in the Blanchard area. Darrell loved horses and spent several years raising quarter horses. Years later, he spent more than 17 years working as a carpenter for the University of Oklahoma. Much of Darrell’s woodwork can still be seen on campus at the University of Oklahoma Library today. Darrell retired from OU and become a full time farmer. He returned home to work on the farm, just tinkering on things and raising cattle, and never missed an opportunity to go fishing. Darrell cherished his family and for the past 5 years, has been a member of the Iron Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by: His parents, Farrell and Gladys Williams; His son, Gary Henagar and His sister, Doris Odom and her husband Lynn.
Darrell leaves behind: His wife, Carolyn, of the home; Daughter, Sandra Price and husband Ricky of Blanchard, OK; Grandchildren, Russell Price and wife Hillary of Lexington and Sherri Price of Blanchard; Great grandchildren, Brooke Lynn Carter of Norman and Gamble Lynn Price of Blanchard; Brother-in-law, Michael Dean Davenport and wife Marci of Dibble and A host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at Iron Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Dibble.
