Bob Williams

Bob Williams
September 22, 1929 ~ April 07, 2018

Longtime Hampton, Georgia resident, Bob Williams, age 88, passed away Saturday, April 07, 2018, at the Norman Veterans Center. Robert Squires Williams was born September 22, 1929 in Minneapolis, MN, the 3rd of 3 children born to Nelson Wright Williams and Charlotte Isabelle (McPheeters) Williams.

Bob was raised in North Carolina and Georgia, where he attended school. At age 17, he left school, and answered the call to serve his country. Bob joined the United States Air Force; a decision that would alter his course in life. He was proud Patriot and served his country proudly. He served overseas in Okinawa and spent 3 years in the Vietnam War. Bob retired as Master Sergeant at Tinker Air Force Base after serving 22 years, one month and 29 days. He returned to Georgia, where he spent the next 46 years.

Bob was a truck driver before he began working as a dispatcher for the Henry County Sheriff's Office, and before long was promoted to Deputy Sheriff. He proudly graduated from the Police Academy, just shortly before his 60th birthday. A little more than 10 years later, he turned in his weapon and became a Bailiff for the State Court of Henry County. When not working, you would probably find Bob on the golf course, or watching his favorite John Wayne movies. Bob was ordained as a minister of the Gospel in 1987 and a man of great faith who enjoyed singing in church and teaching Sunday school. He was a longtime member of the Charity Baptist Fellowship Church in Jonesboro, GA.

After the death of his wife, Jeannine, he moved to Oklahoma in 2014, to be closer to his daughters. Bob was a wonderful father and grandfather; a true Patriot and a good friend. He will be dearly missed!
