Billy Williams

Billy Williams
March 27, 1943 ~ January 9, 2016

Billy Williams was born March 27, 1943 in Marlow, Oklahoma to Irma Jo and Homer Bill Williams. He passed away January 9, 2016 at Carter, Oklahoma at the age of 72 years, 9 months and 12 days.

Billy grew up with his family and they traveled throughout Oklahoma, Texas, Alabama and Florida. He graduated from West Palm Beach High School in 1961 and furthered his education at Florida State University and obtained his bachelors degree. In February of 1966 he enlisted in the United States Army and served stateside during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in February of 1972 and he came back and went into business with his family raising and training greyhounds. He was married to Paula Lynn (Smith) Williams at Mobile, Alabama on August 23, 1986 and they made their home in the Carter, Oklahoma community. Billy continued in the greyhound business until 2006 when he went to work for United Supermarket in Elk City and continued until just recently when he entered the hospital. Billy enjoyed reading anything he could get his hands on and taking care of his dogs.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Paula, of the home; 5 children, Cooper Smith Williams, Carter, OK, Morgan Lynn Williams, Mobile, AL, Lindey Williams Mendenhall and husband, Eric, Mobile, AL, Kelly Wayne Williams and wife, Stephanie, McDonough, GA and Richard Lee Williams and wife, Angie, Jupiter, FL; 10 grandchildren, Hartley, Carter and Dayton Mendenhall, Tia, Cassidy and Houston Williams and Devin, Dalton, Dakota and Dylan Williams; 1 sister, Jeane Janesek and husband, Gerry, Tennessee and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family asks that any donations be made to the Stephenson's Cancer Center, 800 Northeast 10th Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73104.
