The family will have a private memorial service for Vance Roger Wilkins at a later date. Vance passed away Thursday, October 31, 2013, in Hugo, Oklahoma, at the age of 88.

Vance Roger Wilkins was born March 20, 1925, in Grant, Oklahoma, to Walter Terrel and Catloe (Boyett) Wilkins.

He married Lawanda Cole on August 27, 1985 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was a member of Unity Baptist Church and served his country in the United States Navy. Vance worked in construction as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator.

He was preceded in death by parents; sisters, Ruth Ruggles, Harriet Leonard and Jean Gooding; brothers, Wilbur Wilkins and Ray Wilkins.

Vance is survived by wife, Lawanda Wilkins of the home; daughter, Denise Bronson of Provo, Utah; son, Lance Wilkins of Hanford, CA; step-son, Rocky Schultz and wife Karine of Sulphur, OK, step-daughter, Linda Lemons and husband Ray of Canon City, CO; sister, Frances Henson of Paris, TX; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
