John Lafayatte Wilhite

John Lafayatte Wilhite
January 30, 1933 ~ April 25, 2013

John L. Wilhite, born January 30, 1933 near Udall, Kansas, entered into eternal rest on Thursday April 25, 2013.

John graduated from Wichita East High School in 1950 before serving in the Navy from 1950-1954. He then went on to graduate from Wichita University in 1958 with a degree in Engineering and furthered his studies with a Masters from Dayton, Ohio in 1969. John worked as an engineer manager for the Air Force at Tinker Air Force Base until his retirement in 1989 and was also a part-time Professor of Mathematics at Rose State College from 1984-2012.

John married Corene Kerschen of Goddard, Kansas in 1955. They had three children; Kevin Wilhite (wife Man Li) of Bloomington, Indiana, Dana Easley (husband Shon) of Springfield, Illinois and David Wilhite of Midwest City, Oklahoma. They have two grandchildren; Lindsey Shaub (husband Bill) of Bourbonnais, Illinois and Shana Easley of Portland, Oregon and two great grandchildren; Trace and Tristan Shaub.

A Fourth Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus, John was inducted in 1956 and was also a life member of the Air Force Association.

John is preceded in death by his father, Arthur Wilhite and mother, Mattie Wilhite and a great granddaughter, Gabrielle Shaub.
