Cassandra Layne Wilfong, 63, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, died on January 10, 2025 at Ascension St. John Jane Phillips Hospital.
Cassandra was born Bonnie Wolfgang on January 31, 1961 in Cambridge, Ohio to Harold Wolfgang and Mary Hern. She was adopted early in life by Thomas Lane Thorne and Edna Dell Thorne of Fairmont, West Virginia. Cassandra had six brothers and sisters on her biological family and was the oldest of three children in her adopted one. She graduated from East Fairmont High School in Fairmont, West Virginia in 1979.
A loving mother, Cassandra had five children: Kimberlea Tano (Gilpin) (born 1980), Raymond Wilfong Jr. (Autumn Lockhart) (born 1987), James Wilfong (born 1989), David Wilfong (born 1990), and Robert Wilfong (born 1991). During her life, Cassandra found her home in several states besides West Virginia: Texas, Kentucky, Maryland, and Oklahoma, where she moved with her companion John Cady in 2020. Cassandra enjoyed cooking, arts and crafts, football, NASCAR, and professional wrestling. She was also a history buff.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Wolfgang (Glover) in 2015, with whom she was very close. She was also preceded in death by her biological parents and adoptive father, Thomas Thorne.
Survivors include her five children; Edna Thorne (adoptive mother) of Fairmont, West Virginia; sister Tina Wolfgang (Richmond) of Wheeling, West Virginia; brother Raymond Wolfgang of Wheeling, West Virginia; sister Connie Wolfgang (Isner) of Clarington, Ohio; sister Ncole Wolfgang of Vermillion, Ohio; brother Jeffrey Wolfgang of Lorain, Ohio; sister Delena Thorne (Haught); brother Thomas Thorne Jr.; companion and longtime friend John Cady of Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
A private time of reflection and memorial will be held by the family at a later time.
