Edward "Ed" Ray Wiley was born September 5, 1935 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Francis Louise and Robert Leslie Wiley. He passed away September 16, 2017 at Sayre, Oklahoma at the age of 82 years and 11 days.
Ed grew up in Oklahoma City and attended Crooked Oak Schools graduating in 1953. It was during these years that Ed would come out to Western Oklahoma where he would help the Gilliland family on their farm and hunt. After high school graduation he attended Oklahoma A&M University where he received his Engineering degree in 1958.
Later that same year Ed was drafted into the United States Army where he served until 1964.
After his discharge he obtained employment with Phillips working on oil rigs in Oklahoma and Texas doing everything from roustabout to Vice President of the Mid Continent division of Grace Drilling.
He was married to Linda Elizabeth (Keim) Wiley at Edmond, Oklahoma on August 23, 1987.
He later went to work at Tinker Air Force Base where he worked as a aerospace engineer for 20 years. Ed retired in 1998 and was back and forth from Edmond to Sayre taking care of Treva Gilliland. After Treva's death in 2006, he inherited their farm and has spent most of his time on the farm. Ed was an avid Oklahoma State Fan and had just completed a trip with the football team to Alabama. He was also a loyal follower of the Sayre Eagles and was awarded the "Most Loyal Fan". He would travel to all of the away sporting events with Garland Hinkle where they would enjoy watching Garland's grandchildren. Ed in past years enjoyed quail hunting and having his own dogs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Robert Schroeder.
He survived by his wife, Linda, of the home; 5 children, Teresa Wiley, Moore, OK, Shelley Spears and husband, James, Edmond, OK, Jil Shackelford and husband, Larry, Broken Arrow, OK, Michael Howell and wife, Sue, Ventura, CA and Jayme Hopson and husband, J.C., Edmond, OK; 8 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
