Gene Clyde Wiles

Gene Clyde Wiles
August 21, 1939 ~ May 23, 2023

Gene Clyde Wiles went to be with His Lord and Savior on May 23, 2023. He was born on August 21, 1939, in Heavener, OK, to Elzie and Cleo (Harris) Wiles.

He moved at an early age to Stonewall, where he attended first grade, then the family moved back to Heavener where he attended 2nd through 8th grade at Forrester, graduating from Heavener High School in 1958. He played football for 3 years and was president of FFA his Sr. year.

Gene moved to Ochelata, OK in 1958 to work for Reda Pump Co. He married Linda Sue Toalson on June 12,1960 at Ochelata Baptist Church. They made their home in Ochelata for 63 years, on a farm north of town. Gene served in the US Army from 1963 to 1965, a year of that was spent at North Point, Germany. He was a security guard MP on his post.

Gene led the song service at Ochelata Baptist Church for many years. He also sang with the Calico Cowboys for many years. Singing was something that gave him great joy, as well as others. He retired in 1995, after 37 years with Reda Pump but continued his work on the farm.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elzie and Cleo, his sister Nellie Lile and her husband, Charles, nephew Tommy Wiles, his sister-in-law Gwen Wiles, and a loving niece Terri Toalson.

He is survived by his loving and praying wife of the home, Linda, his brother Don Wiles of Ochelata, and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

Even though his health had been declining, he passed away unexpectedly Tuesday night. His loving and caring nurses, over the last few months, have been a true blessing. His family, his church family, the community and everyone who knew him will suffer this great loss. Gene was a friend to so many and loved by all who knew him. Everywhere he went he met old or made new friends.
