Sarah Frances Wilcoxen passed away March 14, 2009, in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of James Madison and Sadie Ann Goddard of Caddo, Oklahoma. She was born August 4, 1923.
Sarah graduated from Oklahoma College for Women in 1945 with a Bachelor of Music degree. She participated and placed in many piano recitals and competitions. After graduation, she traveled to New York City where she attended the Juilliard Summer Program. Upon completion of her studies Sarah moved to Muskogee where she taught music for a year.
On June 6, 1947, she married Andrew Calloway Wilcoxen of Muskogee. Sarah and Andrew had three children; Andrew, Francie, and Jim.
Sarah was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church of Muskogee. She was also a member of Chapter CJ of PEO.
Throughout her life, Sarah enjoyed playing the piano, and painting. She was an active member of the Muskogee Art Guild for several years and enjoyed playing bridge with her many friends.
She was involved in numerous civic organizations throughout her life.
Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, brother; James, sister; Mary Lois, and her husband Andrew.
She is survived by her son, Andrew Wilcoxen and wife, Vicky of Muskogee; daughter, Francie Miller of Tulsa; son, Jim Wilcoxen and wife, Andrea of Muskogee; nine grandchildren: Brandy Chambers of Dallas, TX, Amanda Miller of Oklahoma City, Andrew Miller and wife, Amy of Dallas, TX, Sarah Taylor Wilcoxen of Chicago, IL, Jimmy Wilcoxen of Muskogee, Patrick Miller of Danbury, CT, Ellen Wilcoxen of Muskogee, William Andrew Calloway Wilcoxen of Muskogee, and great-grandson, Peyton Miller of Dallas, TX and many, many friends.
A memorial service for Sarah will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at First Presbyterian Church of Muskogee, with Pastor Ann Brizendine officiating.
Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to donate to the First Presbyterian Church of Muskogee, 500 W. Broadway, Muskogee, OK 74401.
