Freeda Mae (Mayfield) Wilcox went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 03, 2019 at 2:40A.M. Freeda was born April 17, 1947 to James William “Willie” and Edna Mildred (Jones) Mayfield in Pawhuska, Oklahoma.

Freeda’s education began in Nelagoney, OK and she attended through the 10th grade. She finished her education in Barnsdall and graduated with the class of 1965.

Freeda and Jackie Gene Wilcox were wed October 1, 1965 in the Barnsdall Assembly of God Church. Freeda achieved her goal of attaining her Bachelors of Elementary Education and then went on to complete her Master’s Degree.

Jack and Freeda had their first son, Jon Roy Wilcox, September, 1971. Eight years later in March 1979 their second son, Mark James Wilcox, completed their family.

Freeda began her 31 year teaching career in Barnsdall, then taught in Bowring, and finished in Bartlesville. She retired from the Bartlesville Public Schools in 2007. Freeda was a devoted child of God and her faith shone through in all she did. She attended Grace Community Church, Bartlesville, OK and she and Jack hosted many small groups from church in their home over the years.

Freeda is survived by her husband, Jackie Gene Wilcox; two sisters-in-law, Carol Gray of Bartlesville and Ceceilia Mayfield, of Barnsdall; 2 sons, Jon (Rushelle) Wilcox of OKC and Mark (Sarah) Wilcox of Savannah, GA; one step-daughter, Inta (Dennis) Berry of Midland, TX. Four granddaughters, Jessica Wilcox of OKC, Simone Wilcox of Savannah, GA, Lauryn Hadley of OKC and Beth Berry of Midland, TX; three grandsons, Xavier Wilcox of Savannah of GA, Alex Jachmann of Norman, Kyle Colombe of Midwest City; 2 great-grandsons, Paxton & Rhett of Midland, TX; one nephew, Robert Spencer of Tulsa; 6 nieces, Cheryl (Richard) Herard, Bartlesville, Danette (Freddie) Bishop, Bartlesville, Pam (Boop) Williams, Skiatook, Kim Savage, Skiatook, Lori Mayfield, Barnsdall, Kim (Richard) Tafoya, Skiatook; and a whole host of cousins and many close friends.

Preceded in death by her parents Willie and Mildred Mayfield, grandparents Elbert and Zadah (Garland) Jones and Robert and Laura (Newcomb) Mayfield. Granny, Flarnie Newcomb. Parents-in-law, Roy and Nora Wilcox. One brother, O. E. (Eddie) Mayfield, sisters-in-law Betty Spencer and Joanne Bally.

Memorial Services are scheduled for Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. at Grace Community Church of Bartlesville with Dr. Rod Macilvaine and Mr. Owen Howell officiating. In lieu of flowers, Freeda requested donations of school supplies. School supplies may be donated at the memorial service or send a donation to Bartlesville Public Schools, 1100 SW Jennings, Bartlesville, OK 74003 and note in the memo “In memory of Freeda Wilcox”.
