Lawrence "Larry" Laverne Wiggins, of Calera, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2024, in McKinney, Texas, at the age of 70. Born on May 5, 1954, in Spokane, Washington, Larry's life was marked by a spirit of adventure and a deep interest in the world around him.
Larry proudly served his country in the US Navy as an auxiliary machinist's mate aboard the USS Sunfish fast-attack nuclear submarine, an experience that left a lasting impression on him and forged lifelong friendships with fellow veterans. His commitment to his fellow servicemen continued through his active involvement with the USS Sunfish Veterans group.
After his naval service, Larry became a warehouse manager for Walgreens, where his hard work and dedication were well-respected by his colleagues. Larry's zest for life was evident in his love for music, reading, and attending concerts. He was a skilled chess player and an enthusiastic billiards player, often sharing these passions with his friends and family. Above all, Larry cherished the time spent with his grandchildren, who brought immense joy and laughter into his life.
