George Lamon Whitney II was born on November 29, 1983 in El Reno, OK to George L. and Veronica (Bell) Whitney. He died on January 20, 2013 in Lawton, OK at the age of 29.
Services are scheduled for Saturday afternoon at 3:00 PM at New Hope Church of God in Christ with Harold Johnson Associate Minister, Mount Calvary Baptist Church, officiating.
Lamon was raised and attended school in Lawton and Ocala, FL. While in school, he was active in many sports, and excelled at basketball, football, wrestling and soccer. After graduating from high school in Ocala, he worked as a clerk at Albertsons before returning to Lawton in 2007.
Lamon was very family oriented, helping family members in many ways and always offering encouragement when they needed it the most. In his spare time, Lamon enjoyed fishing, watching OU sports, the San Francisco 49rs, and Thunder basketball.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; a sister, Viola C. Goulsby, and Mother Emma Wells.
Survivors include 2 daughters, LaNecia and DaNecia of Norman; his mother, Veronica Hovsepian and husband Daniel of Ocala; father George Whitney; sisters, Danyette Green of Ocala, Youlanda Boyd and husband LaFayette of Ft Hood, TX, Kristie Scallion, also of Ft Hood, Nasheema Silas of Oklahoma City, Desiree Scallion of Lawton, Vickie McCrae and husband Ronald of El Paso, TX, Annette Hurd and husband Jeff of Lawton, and Shauna Howard of Hobart, Cynthia Hovsepian of Ocala FL; brothers, Howard D. Bell and wife Carolyn of Lawton, Robert Scallion of Lawton, and Cosell Howard of Killeen, TX, Daniel Hovsepian of Fort Benning, GA; surrogate parents, Thelma Wilson of Lawton and Carl Howard of Hobart, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
