Edith Beatrice (Armstrong) Whitney
April 1, 1922 ~ September 14, 2017

Edith Whitney, 95 year old Mooreland resident, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 14, 2017 at her home in Mooreland. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church of Mooreland with the Reverend Larry Masoner officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.

Edith Beatrice (Armstrong) Whitney was born on April 1, 1922 in Anthony, Kansas to Ezra Benjamin and Ida Belle (Walden) Armstrong.She was the youngest of 13 children. She attended school in Anthony, Kansas and graduated in 1940 and was then united in marriage to Roger Rife Whitney in 1940, in Medicine Lodge, Kansas and they made their first home in Anthony, Kansas and then to Waynoka Oklahoma in 1958. While in Waynoka Edith was a stay at home mom until 1962 when she began operating the Dairy Maid, later she worked part time for Sharp's Jewelry Store. In 1986 Edith and Roger moved to Mooreland where she lived until the time of her death.

She was a member of the Presbyterian and Methodist Church and was a member of the United Methodist Women for several years. Edith enjoyed being a wife, mother, and grandmother, going to church, bowling, playing canasta with the ladies, sewing, gardening, watching Dallas Cowboys football games, and getting together with all the family. Edith's church family was very important to her.

She is survived by her daughters: Dody Hayter and husband Gary, Linda Jennings, and Brenda Knoles and husband Larry, and son Chuck Whitney and wife Debra. Grandchildren, Kim and Mike Burk, Pam and Brent McDowell, Rob and Melinda Whitney, Patrick Whitney, Vanessa Harris, Darrin Lyon, Edi and Andy Burnet, Adam and Cheyenne Whitney, Lisa and Jason Wheeler, Magen Whitney, Jeff and Tammy Knoles and Sherri Wiser. Great Grandchildren, Ethan and Tyler McDowell, Cason and Cambria Whitney, Shanda, Trent, andTaylor Harris, Nate Lyon, Marshall, Emily, Lauren and Ian Burnet, Walker Whitney, Whitney and Jayden Wheeler, Austin, Alex and Allison Wiser and Zachary and Joselyn Knoles. Great Great Grandchildren Keeley and Karley Harris and Brylie and Braxton Harris.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roger, one son, Bob Whitney and one daughter Denise Shaw. One granddaughter Heather Phillips and seven brothers Lou, Orville, Everett, Callie, Ralph, Sid and Galen and five sisters, Agnes, Della, Ruth, Eva and Helen.

Memorials may be given to the Mooreland United Methodist Church Youth Group with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
