John Charles Whitfield
June 10, 1932 ~ May 24, 2019

John Charles Whitfield passed away in his Stillwater home on Friday May 24, 2019. Services for John Charles Whitfield will be held Friday May 31, 2019 at the small chapel in the First United Methodist Church in Stillwater at 2:00pm.

John was born in San Angelo, Texas on June 10, 1932 to Johnnie Joyee and Charles Whitfield. John grew up and graduated high school in Lubbock Texas in 1949 and went on to receive a bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech in 1955. John played the trumpet in a 4-man college prep band at Texas Tech. He played many venues including rodeos. He was also a Phi Delta charter member at Texas Tech. John was ranked as a Captain Signal Officer in the Army from 1951 to 1963. John married his wife, JoAnn in Ponca City on May 3, 1980 at the 1st Presbyterian Church.

John loved to cook and play golf, he played several of the best courses including; Palm Springs, Pebble Beach and Bay Hill. He also loved his work in commercial lending, he retired at 77. John loved music, mostly classical and jazz and blues but not country. John’s favorite vacation was to Washington DC with Markie and Dello. While living in Branson, MO Fridays were reserved for date night at the Branson West Country Club.

John is preceded in death by his father, Charles Austin Whitfield, and his mother Johnnie Lou Whitfield.

He is survived by his wife; JoAnn Whitfield, his son; Randy James and wife Becky, his cousin; Markie Silvestri, and his grandsons; Christopher James and Craig James.
