December 27, 1985 ~ August 25, 2020

Tyler Alan Whitehead, age 34, a Coalgate, OK resident, formerly of Atoka County, was born on Friday, December 27, 1985, to Alan Leon and Ginger Dee (Gordon) Whitehead, at Bedford, TX. Tyler passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at his home in Coalgate, OK. He graduated from Tushka High School in 2004.

Tyler received his CLEET certification a few years after graduating high school. He was very proud of his profession as a security guard. He worked at the McAlester Ammunition Plant for the past 13 years. He was honored by the plant on the date of his death by being sworn in as Vice President of the Union.

He married Shannon (Surface) on Saturday, June 25th, 2016 at Tishomingo, OK.

He was a member of Victory Life Church in Atoka where he loved to worship the Lord with his family.

Tyler was an avid deer hunter, who loved taking his wife, children and younger brother, Gabe, to teach and guide them. He loved to noodle, sharing many adventures with his friends and family. He was an excellent handyman, a wonderful and dedicated husband, and the best daddy. He was a faithful, loyal and loving husband, father, son, brother and friend. Tyler was a strong man of God who leaves a legacy of love that will be with us always.

Tyler is survived by his wife, Shannon Whitehead of the home in Coalgate, OK; children, Brecken, Nash, Noble, Major, all of the home; mother, Ginger Whitehead of Norman, OK; father, Alan Whitehead and wife Vanessa of Atoka, OK; siblings, Kenzie Smith and husband Justin of Norman, OK, Stasen Whitehead and wife Kimberly of Norman, OK, Gabriel Whitehead of Norman, OK, Addyson Whitehead of Norman, OK; nephews, Paxton Smith, Bennett Smith; nieces, Hattie Smith, Palmer Smith; mother and father in law, John and Sandy Slater of Davis, OK; father and mother in law, Jim and DeAnna Surface of Tulsa, OK; maternal grandparents, Mike and Kathy Gordon of Oregon, Linda Morea of Norman; grandmother in law, Wanda Slater of Tishomingo, OK; great aunt and uncle, Michael and Jamie Vavrinec of Oregon; aunt and uncle, Donny and Carol Darrow of Elmore City, OK; aunt, Evonne Reigh of Stillwater, OK; uncle, Christoper Gordon and wife Mareshah of Norman, OK; honorary brother and best friend, Matthew Miles and wife Sofia of Coalgate, OK; along with other relatives and many dear friends.

Tyler was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Albert Whitehead, Foy and Rene Callicoat.
