The come and go visitation for Melissa White, 52 year old Enid resident, will be from 5PM-7PM on Thursday, December 28, 2023 in the Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel, 601 West Broadway Enid, OK. With a memorial service following in Ponca City, OK. on Friday, December 29, 2023 at 2PM in the Northeast Baptist Church, 2200 North Pecan Road.

Melissa Lea Umbarger White passed away on December 23rd, 2023. She was born in Wichita, KS on the coldest day, November 28th, 1971 to Karen and Lynn Umbarger: She grew up in Newkirk, OK and moved to Arvada, CO in 1986 and graduated from Arvada High School in 1990. While in Arvada, CO Melissa met and fell in love with the love of her life Kelly White. They were married in Las Vegas, NV on March 20th, 1993 at the We’ve Only Just Begun Chapel. They lived in Colorado until moving to Newkirk, OK in 1995 where they bought her parents home north of Newkirk. Then Kelly got a job in Enid, OK and they made their home with their two dogs Boone and Dezi.

She was employed at Great Salt Plains Health Care Center in Enid, OK where she was an accomplished licensed professional counselor. She got her Bachelor’s of Liberal Studies in 2006 from Oklahoma University and completed her Masters of Science in Mental Health Counseling in 2012 from Capela University.

Melissa’s hobbies and pastimes were her dogs Boone and Dezi, camping, family reunions, traveling, cross stitch, crochet, spending time with her husband Kelly, and her family and friends. She did love to research and debate any issue and everything you could look up on Google.

She is survived by her husband Kelly White of the home, her parents Karen (Leaming) and Lynn Umbarger of Wichita, KS. Her loving sister Jenny Umbarger Scott of Wichita, KS. Her mother in law Carol White of Buena Vista, CO and Kim White, Warner Robins, GA. Chad, Hunter, Jordan, Cameron, and McKinzie (who Melissa married in Colorado to her husband Justin. Sisters in law Pam (Dennis) and Tammy. Lots of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Also brother-in-law Mark White.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Janee Lee Umbarger, her father in law Gerald White, grandparents AE and Evelyn Leaming, Orville (Jack) and Eula (Watt) Umbarger. Uncles Raymond Mahoney, Leslie Leaming, Joe Leaming, Larry Hess, Charles Ferguson, Jim Snavely, and Dick Harding. Also brother-in-law Mike White.

Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to the YWCA Hope Starts Here for Survivors of Abuse through Henninger-Hinson.
