Marvin Eugene White, 70, of Whippoorwill and formerly of Wichita, KS, died Tuesday in Whippoorwill.
As a lifelong musician, Marvin helped bring joy to people everywhere and his soul has now moved on to his forever gig. His family request memorials to help cover his funeral expenses, C/O May White, 56 CR 3581, Pawhuska, OK 74056.
Marvin was born in Okmulgee, OK, to Earnest White and Hazel (Harris) Wilson on Sept. 3, 1950. He was raised in Wichita attending North High School.
Marvin’s true passion was playing drums. A professional musician for more than 40 years, he travelled the country with different bands including R&B band Regents, Jerry Criner aka Cryout, reggae and jazz bands. When not out on the road touring, Marvin enjoyed fishing. His second love was his wife May White and they enjoyed 30 years together.
Marvin is survived by his wife, stepmother Jan White, and numerous other family members and friends.
Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at the Christian Chapel 4-Square Church, 5828 S. Broadway, Wichita, KS. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home – Dewey Chapel. Online condolences and remembrances may be shared at www.DavisFamilyFuneralHome.com.
