Donald Lee White

Donald Lee White
November 25, 1939 ~ September 28, 2019

Donald Lee White age 79 of Washington, OK passed away Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019 at Purcell Municipal Hospital in Purcell, OK. Don was born November 25, 1939, in Marfrance, West Virginia. He was the oldest of two children born to Frank Jay White and Reba Mae (Williams). Don grew up in a coal mining town and attended Crichton High School in Crichton, W.V.

After high school he attended one year at Concord College before joining the U. S. Navy. Don proudly served his country four years from 1959-1963. During his tour of duty he spent time on the “U.S.S. Torsk” and on the “U.S.S. Runner” submarines. He was married to the late Margaret Pachute who bore him son Kevin Lee and daughter Kelly Lynn. After being honorably discharged, Don returned home to Charleston, W.V., married Pamela Davis and increased his family with sons Mike and Braun.

In 1977, Don moved to Oklahoma and settled near the Washington, OK area. He worked as an Electronics Engineer at the FAA Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma City until he retired.

In his earlier years, Don enjoyed hunting and fishing. Later in life, he became a Civil War buff, and enjoyed going to Civil War reenactments with his sister, Jay; who even made them period clothing. Don was also fascinated with trains and aviation. He spent hours reading books and watching TV documentaries about them. He was most passionate about bicycling, especially the Greenbrier River Trail in Greenbrier County, WV. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by:
Parents, Frank and Reba White.
One son, Kevin White.

He is survived by:
Three children, Kelly Lynn White of Norman, OK.
Mike White and wife Angie of Norman, OK.
Braun White and wife Melissa of Moore, OK.
One sister, Melanie Jay Brackenrich and husband Mickey of Ravenna, OH.
Wife Ruth Starcher White.
Nine grandchildren and other loving relatives and friends.

Graveside funeral services will be 11:00 A.M., Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville, West Virginia.

Local arrangements are with Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell, OK.
