Orlena (Eversole) Whistler
August 29, 1913 ~ February 16, 2013

Orlena Whistler (99) of Nowata passed from this life at her home Saturday, February 16, 2013. She was born August 29, 1913, in Elk City, Kansas to John William and Bessie Mary (Harvey) Eversole. Orlena was educated in the Elk City, Kansas Schools and continued her education in Business College.

On her birthday, August 29, 1936, she married Glessner Whistler in Elk City.

Mrs. Whistler worked for many years in the office at Reda Pump in Bartlesville. She was an active member of the Nowata First Baptist Church, and enjoyed her church family and the Bible study time she had with them. Mrs. Whistler enjoyed cooking and quilting but her most treasured moments of her life came from loving and caring for her husband, children, grandchildren, other family and friends. She was a very dear person that will be missed by many family and friends.

Preceding Mrs. Whistler in death are her parents, John William and Bessie Eversole; her husband Glessner Whistler; one son, Mike Whistler; a grandson, Mark Whistler, five sisters, and two brothers.

Mrs. Whistler is survived by two sons, Neil Whistler and wife June, of Houston, Texas, his children, Joni Murphy and Todd Whistler; Doug Whistler and wife Betty, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, their children, Beth Beard, Becky Armstrong, and Barbara Kane; Mike's children, Dustin and Brent Whistler; a daughter, Mary Lou and husband Denny McDaniel of Thornton, Colorado, their children, Chuck McDaniel, Sean McDaniel, and Ann Salchow; twenty three great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; many other relatives as well as a host of friends.

Funeral services are 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at the first Baptist Church of Nowata. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com. Memorial contributions in Orlena's name may be sent to Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children 3800 North May Avenue OKC, OK 73112-6506.
