Norman Ray "Butch" Whistler II, 49, of Bartlesville, died at 7:40 A.M. on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at the Jane Phillips Medical Center.

Services will be held at 2 P.M. on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at the Collide Church 200 N. Dewey, (located at Second & Dewey) in Bartlesville with Pastor Rick Woodward officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.

Butch was born on June 24, 1962 at Norwalk, California to Norman Ray and Zelma Jean (Cox) Whistler. He grew up and received his education in Copan and Bartlesville. While growing up he was active in the Little League Baseball program in Bartlesville. He was married to Janice Elaine (Strebe) Whistler in 1992 in Springfield, Missouri. They were active in Street Ministries throughout Springfield, Missouri and he was active as a plumber. Butch returned to Bartlesville in 2004, was employed as a stonemason with Bartlesville Stone Company and was active in the H20 Church in Bartlesville.

Butch leaves behind to cherish his memory, a daughter, Jessica Vanderpool and husband Michael of Springfield, Missouri, a son, Greg Strebe and wife Natalie Hudson of Springfield, Missouri, his step mother, Louise Whistler of Bartlesville, his step father, Rodney Looney of Bartlesville, two brothers, Rick Whistler and wife Lena and Michael David Whistler all of Bartlesville, two sisters, Nancy Elizabeth Thompson Ellis and husband David of Visalia, California and Lori Leahann McCowan and husband Randy of Bartlesville, three step-sisters, Robin Reitz and husband Tommy of Missouri, Rachel Butler and husband Ed of Kansas, and Rhonda Franklin and husband Lee of Georgia; five grandchildren, Kenzie Vanderpool, Colton Vanderpool, Brandon Vanderpool, Gabriel Strebe and Jacob Strebe, a lifelong friend, Letha Oldham of Bartlesville, a very special friend, Robyn Leeson of Bartlesville and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Norman Ray Whistler on March 27, 2009, his mother, Zelma Jean “Jeannie” Looney on July 17, 1990, his maternal and paternal grandparents and one niece.
