Tom Whisennand, 67 year old Woodward resident died Monday, August 24, 2020. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, August 28, 2020 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Pratt, Kansas at 2:00 pm.
Tommy Mark Whisennand was born on September 27, 1953 in Liberal, Kansas to Elmer Adrian and Pat (Trumbull) Whisennand. Tom grew up in Forgan, and attended Forgan schools graduating from Forgan High School. Tom enlisted in the United States Navy serving from 1972 until 1976 during the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged, he returned home and began working as a welder. He was united in marriage to Linda Bishop on June 27, 1985, they made their home in Mooreland. Tom worked for Halliburton, Diamond Construction, and L and L Backhoe, Tom throughly enjoyed working for Larry and Elaine Gartrell where he retired from in 2016.
He was united in marriage to Deborah Sue Clevenger on September 27, 2003 they made their home in Woodward. Tom and Deborah were best friends. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and children and just being with family. Most of all, he was devoted to Deborah, the love of his life, just seeing her would give him enjoyment, and the fact that he got to love someone like her.
Tom also enjoyed reading and watching western movies, camping and fishing, he was also very fond of airplanes.
Tom is survived by his children, Lance Whisennand of Fort Stockton, Texas; Tim Whisennand of Woodward; step-son Gerald Newby and wife Morgan of Woodward; step-daughter, Sonya Donley and husband Dustin of Mooreland; grandchildren, Kylie Gonser; Kiel Whisennand; Jerika Whisennand; Quintin Whisennand; Lennon Whisennand; Peyton Newby; Justyce Barnett; Kase Donley; Emmy; Krista; Adam; and Billy; great-grandchildren, Jordyn Gonser; and Copeland Gonser; one brother, Casey Whisennand of Pennsylvania; other family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Ann; sons, Cody Ray and Jeremy; wife, Linda; and wife Deborah.
