Deborah Sue (Clevenger) Whisennand
April 14, 1954 ~ February 1, 2020

Deborah Whisennand, 65 year old Woodward resident, died Saturday, February 1, 2020 in Woodward. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 7, 2020 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be held at 2:00 pm in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Pratt, Kansas.

Deborah Sue (Clevenger) Whisennand, was born on April 14, 1954 in Pratt, Kansas; she was the daughter of Finis Edgar and Lela Faye (Wells) Clevenger. Deborah grew up in Pratt, she attended grammar school in Iuka, Kansas and later transferred to Pratt where she attended high school. She was married to Gerald Wayne Newby and they were blessed with two children, Sonya and Gerald. They made their first home in Pratt, Kansas before moving to Woodward in 1979. Deborah was a stay at home mom when the kids were younger and when they were older she worked for Lynn Martin Photography. In 1994 she started a day care from her home and continued doing that until her death.

She was united in marriage to Tom Whisennand on September 27, 2003 and they made their home in Woodward. They loved traveling and camping together. Deborah loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren and her day care babies. She loved life and will be missed by all. She was also a member of the Kapa Zeta - Beta Sigma Phi and the Red Hat Society.

She is survived by her husband Tom Whisennand of the home; one daughter Sonya Donley and husband Dustin of Mooreland; one son Gerald Newby and wife Morgan of Woodward; grandchildren: Justyce Barnett and fiance Trey Hutchison, Kase Donley, Peyton Newby, Jerika Whisennand, Quinton Whisennand, Lennon Whissennand, Kylie Whisennand, Kyle Whisennand; two great-grandchildren: Jordan and Copeland Gonser; step-sons: Tim Whisennand, Lance Whisennand; one sister, Diane Pyles and husband Jeff; brother-in-law, Butch Simpson; special nephew, Greg Scott; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Deborah was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Ed Clevenger, three sisters: Shirley Lee Wright, Leona Moore, Donna Simpson and step-son, Jeremy Whisennand.
