Tonya Sue (Lard) Wheeler

Tonya Sue (Lard) Wheeler
December 9, 1964 ~ November 19, 2023

Tonya Sue Wheeler, age 58, of Blanchard passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, November 19, 2023. Tonya was born on December 9, 1964 in Canadian, Texas, to Billy Wayne Lard and Patsy Ruth (Yarnold) Atterberry. She graduated with the Marietta Indians class of 1983. Tonya dedicated her life serving in law enforcement. She met the love of her life Danny Wheeler on AOL and they connected right away. Of course, she was true to her police officer training and only agreed to date him, once he passed a background check. The two were married on March 22, 2014. The couple spent 22 amazing years together, and were married for 9, celebrating their love and making memories.

Tonya’s favorite hobby was junking and antiquing. Story has it that she had to rent a U-Haul to accommodate all her new treasures on a few occasions. Tonya loved her family and treasured camping and fishing trips. She spent many hours crafting and redoing furniture. Tonya was known to make the most delicious “Cinnamon Rolls”. She used her mother’s recipe and baked with love. She shared her gift of baking with family and friends. Tonya enjoyed spoiling Dan with his favorites, banana nut bread and pumpkin bread. She was spunky, fun and a spit-fire. Some of her favorite quotes were, “Drive like you stole it” and “Love you to the moon and back”. Tonya was a loving wife, outstanding mother, precious daughter and amazing Nana. She was loved immensely and will be missed greatly.

Tonya is preceded in death by her grandparents, Ed and Ruth Yarnold, and B.W. and Ruby Lard; her uncles, Lefty Yarnold, Roy Yarnold and Archie Lard; and her aunt, Phyllis Yarnold.

She is survived by her husband, Dan Wheeler of the home; her daughters, Lindsay Tizzio and husband Michael of Moore, Kimberly Bryant of Copperas Cove, Texas, and Mycha Bartlett and husband Chase of Tuttle; her sons, Josh Wheeler of Transfer, PA., Brian Nicholson and wife Ashley of Mustang, Sean Wheeler of Oklahoma City, and Cody Blair and wife Shelby of Huntington Beach, CA; her dad, Billy Lard and wife Rose of Duncan; her mother, Patsy Atterberry and husband Bob of Purcell; her sisters, Tara Wade and husband Stacy of Purcell, Trina Perigo and husband Craig of Purcell, Amanda Lard of Duncan and Shanna Chaney and husband David of Texarkana, Tx; her brothers, Todd Lard of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl, Joe Lard and wife Brittney of Comanche, Ok and Danny Atterberry and wife Tiffani of Krum, Tx; and 17 grandchildren that meant the world to her, as well as, a host of friends.
