Gayla Jean Wheat, lovingly known as "GaGa," passed away peacefully on April 29, 2025, at the age of 68 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
Born on November 19, 1956, to Wilbur Leroy Wheat and Kathleen Wheat (Swink), Gayla was a lifelong resident of Bartlesville. She graduated from Bartlesville College High in 1975 and dedicated much of her life to serving the community as a beloved bus driver for Bartlesville Public Schools.
Gayla had a warm, creative spirit and enjoyed crafts, puzzles, coloring, and watching movies. Above all, her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren, whom she adored deeply.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Kathleen Wheat; her sister, April Wheat; and her brother, Gary Wheat.
Gayla is survived by her brother Ronnie Wheat; daughters Michelle Thomas and husband Coy, Rebbecca Morey and husband Luke, and Melissa Van Dyck; son Daniel Van Dyck; her cherished grandchildren: Rylan Cochran, Dylan Cochran, Hunner Thomas, Hanna Thomas, Harley Thomas, Brentley Van Dyck, Sean Morey, Thomas Morey, along with three more grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and five nieces and nephews.
