Donald Wayne “Don” Westfall, of Glencoe, OK passed from this life on August 25, 2020 at the age of 86 years, 4 months, and 2 days. He was born on April 23, 1934 to Norman and Katherine (Keating) Westfall in Des Moines, IA. The family resided in Creston, IA before moving to West Des Moines, IA where he graduated from Valley High School with the Class of 1952.
On Dec. 18, 1959, he married Shirley Kay (Kelly) Westfall in West Des Moines. The couple raised five children Jerry Lee, Jim, Julie, Mike, and Cindy. Don worked as golf course superintendent at various courses in Ottumwa, IA, Iowa Falls, IA, Grand View, MO, Kansas City, MO, Prairie Village, KS, Topeka, KS, Broken Arrow, OK, and Ridgedale, MO. He also worked as a journeyman plumber and landscaper. Don was a proud member of the International Order of the Moose (Moose Lodge) where he attained the rank of Pilgrim and served as governor for several terms. He was also chairman of the Bingo committee at the Lodge. In his spare time, Don enjoyed golfing, doing jigsaw puzzles, and going to the casino.
In addition to his parents, Norman and Katherine, Don was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; son, Mike Westfall; step-mother, Irene Westfall; two sisters, Patricia McGuiness and Jean Ward, daughter-in-law Jo Perkins, and a great granddaughter, Seraphina Faires.
Left to carry his legacy are his children: Jerry Lee Perkins of Perry, IA, Jim Perkins and fiancé Donatella Pisano of Topeka, KS, Julie Sawyer and husband Keith of Tahlequah, OK, Cindy Manning and husband Troy of Glencoe, OK, daughter-in-law Riza Westfall of Glencoe; sister Katie Conard and husband LeRoy of Bethlehem, GA; 12 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and many other nieces, nephews, and friends.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, August 31, 2020 at the Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines, IA. Viewing will be held on Sunday from 5-7pm at the McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel under the direction of Redinger Funeral Home, Seiling, OK.
