Vernon West

January 2, 1933 ~ 2006?

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 27th, 12:00 p.m., at Grace Assembly of God Church, 2800 Larson Lane followed by burial at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Vernon was born January 2, 1933 to John and Leota West in Pitcher, Oklahoma. He came to Lamont, CA with his family at the age of seven and lived in the area most of his life.

He married Rebecca Courtney on August 25, 1962 in Cottage Grove, Oregon. Vernon worked for Time Company as Superintendent at Chevron Refinery in El Segundo for many years and various refinery contractors.

Vernon was preceded in death by his mother and father, John and Leota West; brothers, Chester, Oliver, Eugene and Jo Wayne and one sister, Jaynelle Chavez.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Rebecca; brothers, Ed West of Ashgrove, MO, Jim West and Frankie Ybarra of Bakersfield; sisters, Melba Tarver and Treva Davis of Arvin; numerous nieces and nephews, all of which were his favorite.

Visitation begins today, Thursday, January 26th, from 4-8 p.m., at Hillcrest Mortuary.
