Luther Romines West

Luther Romines West

Luther Romines West, resident of Ponca City, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2008 at Westminster Village. He was 87.

Luther was born the son of Frank Everett West and Louise Romines West on February 15, 1921 in Raymondville, Missouri. In 1927, the family moved to Oklahoma and Luther attended and then graduated from Ponca City High School in 1939.

He married Ruth Lorraine Brown on July 11, 1942 in Barnsdall, Oklahoma. To this union, two children were born.

Luther worked 12 years in magazine wholesale. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII and was awarded the Purple Heart Medal. In 1958, he started working at the post office and retired after 23 years on February 15, 1981. Luther was a longtime member of the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth of the home; children, Luther Duane West and wife, Janet Marie Kimble West and Linda Janine West Jacobs, and husband, Jon of Denver, Colorado; grandchildren, Darren West of Honolulu, Hawaii, Christine Marie West of Denver, Colorado and Denise Rene West of Denver, Colorado.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Florence West and Mary Onita Rinehart; and one brother, Warren West.
