John W. West Jr.

December 4, 1922 ~ 1998

John W. West Jr., 75, died Thursday at his Shawnee home.

He was born December 4, 1922, in Haven, Kansas the son of John W. and Ida Mae Tear West.

He attended school in Lebanon, Missouri.

He served in the U. S. Air Force during World War II and retired from the Air Force and from Tinker Air Force Base, where he was a quality inspector.

He married Juanita Gage on February 23, 1944, in Overland, Kansas.

He lived in Shawnee and Oklahoma City for 32 years and was a member of Shields Church of the Nazarene where he served on the board.

He is survived by his wife, Juanita, of the home; three daughters, Sherry Lee Chance, Plano, Texas; Brenda Sue Martin, Moore; Carol Ann Smith, Azle, Texas; three sons, John West III, Moore; Charles Richard West, Shawnee; Michael Dennis West, Oklahoma City; fifteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Todd West, Fisher, Indiana; Dwite West, Camdenton, Missouri; Wade West, Phillipsburg, Missouri; Jackie Dean West and Harry Don West, both of Lebanon, Missouri; sisters, Pauline Keith, Tulsa; Rosa Lee Downing, Inola; Wanda Jo Knight, Dallas, Texas; Anna Sue Holland, Deleon, Texas, and many other relatives and friends.

His parents, one brother and one sister preceded him in death.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. today at Shields Church of the Nazarene, Oklahoma City, with the Rev. Leon Sutterfield officiating.

Services also will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Colonial Funeral Home, Lebanon, Missouri.

Burial will be at New Hope Cemetery, Phillipsburg, Missouri.

Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
