Dorothy Mae (Tassey) West was born at home in Wapanucka, OK on November 8, 1932 to James Frank and Susie (Eaves) Tassey. Dorothy went home to be with the Lord on August 20, 2019 in Sherman, TX at the age of 86.
Dorothy was married to Calvin Dee West and they were truly blessed with many years together until Calvin’s passing in 1999. Dorothy was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Belinda Sue Coss and Allen D. West; sisters, Mary Elkins, Loretha Haigood and Betty Henry; brothers, Lee Newman and Odus Newman; 3 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by husband, Calvin Dee West; daughter, Debbie Lynn Gould; parents, James Tassey and Susie Newman; sisters, Rosey Matthew and Ethyl Matthew and brothers, Robert Tassey, Wayne Newman and Sammy Newman.
The family wishes to thank Hospice Plus personnel and the staff of Homestead of Sherman for their loving care of Dorothy.
The family will have a celebration of Dorothy’s life on September 28, 2019.
