Everett Charles Werner passed from the arms of his family into the arms of the Lord on Monday, May 07, 2018. Everett was born January 1, 1922 at Barber Township, Faribault County, MN and passed at the age of 96 years, four months and six days. Everett will forever be remembered as a sweet Christian soul, loving father and grandfather and a man of integrity.
Everett attended Delavan High School. He married Marjeane Joyce Vandenburgh on September 18, 1951 and celebrated 63 years of marriage. To this union, two children were born, Charles Everett Werner and James William Werner.
Everett served with courage in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II with the 850th Aviation Engineer Battalion in the European Theater from September 1942 to November 1945.
Everett loved the land and was a hard worker. Everett farmed the family farm in Delavan, MN until retiring in 1984. He also worked part-time for many years at Juba’s grocery store in Blue Earth, MN.
During retirement, Everett and Marjeane enjoyed traveling in their motor home, witty evenings filled with card and board games, fishing and volunteer work. Everett and Marjeane moved to Elk City, OK in 2007.
Everett enjoyed attending the United Methodist Church, Elk City, OK; was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Elk City, OK while keeping an associate membership at his home church, Immanuel Lutheran Church at Blue Earth, MN.
Everett is survived by his son Charles Werner and wife, Sandra, Elk City, OK; 3 grandchildren, Sara Wang and husband, Barry, Twin Falls, ID, Alex Werner, Oklahoma City, OK and Kelci Werner, Elk City, OK; 3 great grandchildren, Kodi, Zachary, and Joselyn; 2 sisters, Ruth Bauer, Grand Rapids, MN and Arlene Lueck, Ceylon, MN and 1 brother, Lawrence Werner, Hill City, MN. Immediate family receiving him in heaven are his wife; parents; son James William; one sister, Alice and a host of other relatives and friends.
A celebration of Everett’s life will be at 10:00 am, Friday, May 25, 2018 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, MN. Inurnment will follow at the Immanuel Lutheran Church cemetery with full military honors.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Everett’s memory to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 43103 120th St, Blue Earth, MN 56013.
