Jeanette Welty, 68 year old Freedom resident passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2022. A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday August 13, 2022 in the Freedom Christian Church with lunch provided at 12:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.
Jeanette Ann (Bornkamp) Welty was born on June 7, 1954 to Alfred and Wilma (Lees) Bornkamp in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She grew up in Fort Wayne and later moved to Huntertown. Jeanette attended Carroll High School and graduated with the class of 1972. She then attended Saint Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing and graduated first in her class in 1975.
Jeanette was united into marriage to Richard "Dean" Welty on April 7, 1978 at the Church of God in Waynoka, Oklahoma. They made their first home in Freedom and lived there to this day. To this union three children were born: Richard, Wilene, and Britanie.
She worked as a registered nurse at several hospitals in Northwest Oklahoma. Jeanette was very talented and enjoying crafting decor for others. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren.
Jeanette is survived by her mother, Wilma Bornkamp of Huntertown, Indiana; her husband, Dean Welty of the home; one son, Richard Welty and wife Melanie of Freedom; one daughter, Wilene Kornele and husband Jason of Freedom; three grandchildren: Trenton Welty, Rocky Welty, and Conner Kornele all of Freedom; siblings, Bruce Bornkamp and wife Patty of Picayune, Mississippi;Karen Flory of Fort Wayne, Indiana;Camille Bornkamp of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Susy Bornkamp of Huntertown, Indiana; Myrah Fether of Styker, Ohio; Chris Bornkamp and wife Ceci of Fort Wayne, Indiana; brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, Steve Welty and wife Mary of Stillwater, Oklahoma; Rita Coulter and husband Leo of Woodward, Oklahoma; Winona Hodges and husband Rex of Woodward, Oklahoma; Phillip Welty and wife Gayla of Laverne, Oklahoma; and Terry Welty and wife Rebecca of Lorena, Texas; one aunt, Evelyn Ayres of Florida; very special friend, Rita Bennett of Indiana; many nieces, nephews, and other loving family members.
She is preceded in death by her father, Alfred Bornkamp; brother, Greg Bornkamp; daughter, Britanie Bradshaw; grandchildren Addison and Aiden Bradshaw.
Memorials may be made to the Freedom Fire and Ambulance with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
