Lendy Wells of Bennington, Oklahoma passed from this life on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at the age of 78. He was born on Tuesday, September 25, 1945 in Bokchito, Oklahoma to Ruben and Oma Mozelle (Crozbey) Wells.
He was a lifelong resident of Bennington, Oklahoma. He proudly served in the U.S. National Guard. In his younger years, he was a tool pusher on oil rigs for Parker Drilling Company in four different states. Then he returned home and was employed at Bennington Public Schools. He was known as the on-campus “Jack-of-all-trades.” He could fix anything from school buses to vacuum cleaners. He was an excellent carpenter who could build anything from large homes to playhouses, and he always had a shirt pocket full of suckers or m&m’s for his children and great grandchildren.
He enjoyed collecting things. He would mine and dig for unique rocks and would share his finds with others. He also enjoyed playing the guitar and singing for his friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ruben and Oma Mozelle (Crozbey) Wells; brothers Larry, Levvin, Wendell; and sister Kathy.
Survivors include his children Bobbi Carter and husband Jimmy of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; Tammi Perry and husband Jay of Bennington, Oklahoma; stepson Alan Beach of Bennington, Oklahoma; grandchildren Brandi Jewell and husband Eric of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, Jeff Carter and wife Brenda of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, Derek Perry and wife Maryssa of Bennington, Oklahoma, Ryan Perry and wife Faith of Bokchito, Oklahoma; step granddaughter Harley Beach of Jacksonville, Florida; great grandchildren Laykin, Layne, Emma, Grayson, Marah, Josiah, Benaiah; sister Estelle Poljakow and husband Simon of Durant, Oklahoma as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at the First Baptist Church in Bennington, Oklahoma with Bro. Jay Perry officiating.
