Carol Yvonne (Herber) Wells

Carol Yvonne (Herber) Wells
July 21, 1946 ~ April 19, 2023

Carol Wells, age 76, of Washington passed away at home on April 19, 2023. Carol Yvonne Herber was born on July 21, 1946 in Shattuck, Oklahoma, the 3rd of four children born to Dave C. Herber and Molly (Kraft) Herber. She was primarily raised in Shattuck and graduated with the Indian Class of 1964. Shortly after graduating, she moved to Weatherford, Oklahoma where she attended SWOSU for a period of time, before moving to Guthrie.

She married young, and to this union two children were born. She later settled in Norman and began working as an insurance agent, where she retired after nearly 30 years. By chance, she met her soulmate, Gary Michael Wells. As the story goes, he needed insurance and she refused to insure him. The rest, as they say, is history. Together they welcomed two more children into the family. Carol enjoyed the simple things in life, like watching birds and working in her garden. She was kind, generous, patient, and had the biggest heart. Carol was woman of great faith and she cherished her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be dearly missed!

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Dave and Molly Herber; her son, Greg Bay; her brother and sister-in-law, Doug and Johnetta Herber; one grandchild, Kyndall Paige Bay.

Carol is survived by: her loving husband, Michael Wells of the home; daughters, Cherie Schubach of Moore, OK and Michelle Woods and husband Tim of Garden City, KS, as well as her daughter-in-law Dalene Bay of Purcell, OK; son, Jesse Wells of Norman, OK; sisters, Julene Meier of Beaver, OK and Marlene Webb and husband Mark of Texas; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
