Mabel R. (Lagwig) Welchert

Mabel R. (Lagwig) Welchert
May 16, 1920 ~ November 4, 2012

The memorial service for Mabel R. Welchert, 92, of Enid will be held at 10 A.M., Friday November 9th, 2012 in Brown-Cummings Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Gary Miller With Hospice Circle of love officiating. Services and cremation are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

Mabel was the youngest and last surviving of thirteen children born to William and Ernestine Lagwig in Milbank, South Dakota and passed away November 4, 2012 in Enid, Oklahoma. She graduated from Milbank High School. She was a midwife, worked for the United States Forest Service before her retirement as State Supervisor for Royal Neighbor Insurance Company in 1989 after 10 years.

Mabel and Thomas had unwavering faith in The Lord and were very active members of the Redeemer Lutheran Church. She got great comfort in reading her Bible. She also loved her country, was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion Auxillarys and watched while two husbands, three brothers, two sons, two grandsons, and granddaughter served overseas in a time of war.

She always loved life and often said her cup runneth over. She and Thomas raised six children with love and there was always room for another at the table. With a distinctive laugh she always found joy and humor in life.

She is survived by Sons, Larry and Wilma Thompson, Thomas and MaryAnn Thompson, Daughter Gloria and Michael Hawley, ten Grandchildren and twelve Great-Grandchildren.

She is preceded by her beloved Thomas of 55 years, Sons, Daniel and Thomas John, daughter Linda and a grand-daughter Angela.

Memorials may be made to The Cancer Society or Hospice Circle of Love with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds.

Condolences may be made to the family online at Brown-Cummings.com
