Richard Lee Welch

Richard Lee Welch
September 30, 1930 ~ July 29, 2017

Richard Lee Welch Passed away on July 29, 2017. He was married to the love of his life, Dorothy Welch for 67 years.

Born September 30, 1930 in Gracemont, Oklahoma to Vera Ellen and James Dolphus Welch. He attended school in Westville, Oklahoma while working in the family's businesses with his brothers and sisters. He was employed by Phillips Petroleum Company in Bartlesville, Oklahoma for over 32 years.

He was introduced to the love of his life in 1948. Richard and Dorothy Welch were married in Yukon, Oklahoma on February 21, 1950. They shared a strong love and friendship.

He was a member of Disciples Christian Church where he served as treasurer and Elder for many years. He enjoyed computers, aviation, family ancestry, long walks and most of all, family.

Richard was happy to serve as a Sergeant in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed with the antiaircraft for the protection of Detroit, MI and the northern border with Canada and the US

He served as Lt. Colonel many years while volunteering with Civil Air Patrol, the official auxiliary of the US Airforce in Oklahoma.

Survived by Wife Dorothy of 67 years, Cindy and husband Kevin Bennett of Bartlesville, Sam and wife Dena Welch of Wellston, OK and Gordon and wife Lisa of Bartlesville, Brother Calvin Welch of Atlanta, GA and Sister Beulah Faye Simpson of Yale, OK. Grandchildren include Rachel and husband William Flynn, Rebekah Welch, Adam Welch, Dane Bennett, Forrest Bennett, Grant Bennett, Saskia Hansen, Spencer Welch, and Julie Welch and great grandchildren Charlotte Flynn, Scarlett Hansen, Teegan Heater and Grace Heater.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, many brothers and sisters, Infant Son Richard Lee Welch, Jr. and Son Jeffery Alan Welch
