Janie Sue Welch

Janie Sue Welch
November 24, 1952 ~ October 5, 2024

Janie Sue Welch, age 71, a Coalgate, OK resident, formerly a lifelong Atoka, OK resident, was born on Monday, November 24, 1952, to Walter T. and Sfronia S. (Jack) Welch, at Atoka, OK.

Janie fought a four year battle with cancer. She peacefully left this earth and gained her wings on October 5, 2024.

She received her GED and became an EMT where she worked on the ambulance service for years before becoming the director. Janie then went on to nursing school where she received her LPN license in 1982. During all this, she found the time to go and get her Associate's Degree in Hydraulics and Electronics. Janie ventured away from nursing for a bit to work at Texas Instruments, but her passion was nursing and helping others so she came back and did just that.

She acquired all these accomplishments while raising her two girls by herself. She always said, "I have to do what I have to do for my girls." There wasn't anywhere she went that she didn't run into someone that she had taken care of or had made an impact on their life somehow. Up until her passing she would visit with everyone she saw. She was do proud of her girls, her grandkids and especially her great grandbaby. Janie loved to fish, camp, riding on backroads, listen to music, driving, cooking, and spending as much time as possible with her kids and grandkids.

Janie is survived by her daughters, Tracy Ann Williams of Coalgate, OK, Carey Dawn Williams and husband Stacey of Phillips, OK; grandchildren, Janie Nicole Williams, (her namesake), Jalee Micah Stafford (her Boo Boo), Jace Tanner Norton, (her only grandson); great granddaughter, Mila Mae McBride (her favorite great grandchild); siblings, Barbara Cross of Tecumseh, OK, Joyce Hendrickson of Atoka, OK; brother in law, Hoppy McDougal of Tushka, OK; very special girls, her nurses that meant a lot to her, Mandy Freas, Jennifer Hearrell, Katelyn Graham, Susie Jordan, Dana O'Hagan; along with several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and many lifelong friends.

Janie was preceded in death by her parents, Walter T. and Sfronia S. (Jack) Welch; great granddaughter, Gracie Ann; brothers, Lloyd G. Welch, Ralph E. Welch, Twins, Tarry and Larry Welch; sister, Syble K. McDougal; nephew, Dean Ferguson; brothers in law, Tommy Cross, Roger Venske; special aunts that helped raise her, Helen Hunt, Mary Ellen Hunt.
