Betty Jeanne “GG” (Stanton) Weir

Betty Jeanne “GG” (Stanton) Weir
April 27, 1941 ~ December 29, 2021

Betty Jeanne Weir, “GG”, from Cherokee, Oklahoma, left her earthly home on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at the age of 80. Betty was born in St. Louis, Missouri on April 27, 1941 to parents, Earl Raymond Stanton and Margery Jean (Schoolcraft) Stanton. She was the youngest of three children.

In 1958, she met and married James Murl Ivy. To this union three children were born, Debora, Jeanne and Beverly. She later married George William Weir in 1968 and adopted one child, Suzy. Betty was a homemaker, worked for Toot-n-Totum in Amarillo, Texas for four years, and at Sav-a-Trip, later known as Toni’s Express Stop in Cherokee, Oklahoma for approximately ten years.

Betty was an avid sports fan with the Dallas Cowboys and Kansas City Chiefs being her favorite teams. She also enjoyed playing card games and dominos, but her favorite activity was bowling, in which she earned several awards.

Betty is predeceased by her spouses, James Murl Ivy in 1964 and George William Weir in 1994; also by her beloved dogs, Droopy and Casper.

Betty is survived by her two sisters, Mary Cobb of Texas and Pat Vickers of Arkansas; four daughters, Debora Sanderson and spouse, Gary from Pikeville, Tennessee, Jeanne Edster and spouse, Greg of Joplin, Missouri, Beverly Jantz and spouse, Mike of Cherokee, Oklahoma, and Suzy Tadlock and spouse, Joe of Crestview, Florida. She was Grandma to Kari Vetter and spouse, Steven, Kevin Jantz and spouse, Jami, Joshua Jantz and spouse, Delissa, Christopher Edster, Justin Schmidt and spouse, Kristi, Michael Sanderson, and Zack Sanderson. She was fondly known as GG to her twelve great-grandchildren, Toby, Haylee, Chloe, Keira, Kennedy, Merl, Roy, Nathan, Charlie, Piper (coming in 2022), Colton and Ana; nieces; nephews; other relatives, and friends and her two cats, Nosey and Radar. She loved being with her Grandchildren and Great-grandchildren and would entertain them with her stories!!!

Three words to sum up her life would be “You Are Loved”

Betty’s service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Cherokee on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be held at Lanman Funeral Home on Monday, January 3, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with family present. There will be no graveside service.

Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Cherokee. www.lanmanmemorials.com, Facebook: Lanman Funeral Home Inc.

In Betty’s honor, memorials may be given to Alzheimer’s Association through the funeral home.
