Retired Lt. Col. Ralph E. Weida

Ralph E. Weida
March 4, 1934 ~ August 5, 2021

Retired Lt. Col. Ralph E. Weida passed away peacefully at home on Thursday August 5, 2021, at the age of 87. Ralph was born to William and Elsie Weida in Enid, OK, on March 4, 1934.

Ralph attended Enid High School, graduating in 1952. Ralph attended Oklahoma A&M College, graduating in 1956. Ralph then enlisted in the Air Force in 1956, completing two tours of Vietnam, earning Distinguished Flying Cross award in 1968 and The Air Medal 1st through 7th Oak leaf cluster. Upon completing his tours of Vietnam, he earned a Master of Science and Logistics Management degree.

He met his wife Diane Johnson in England and married July 28, 1962. The wedding ceremony was held at St. James the Great in Shirley, Warkshire, England. They had a son, Richard Weida, on July 24, 1966. Ralph and his family made many stops on his tours and finally settled in Vacaville, CA, in 1980. Ralph retired from the Air Force in 1984 and then began a very successful career as a financial planner, a realtor and a substitute teacher. Ralph had such a kind and loving soul, an inquisitive mind always wanting to know how things worked and a love of conversation with people of all walks of life. Ralph had a real passion for life and was never seen without a smile on his face. Ralph loved gardening, working the stock market and was an avid collector of many things.

Ralph is survived by his son Richard Weida, daughter-in-law Teri Weida, grandson Dalton Weida and granddaughter Abbie Weida, all of Vacaville, CA; sister, Rosa Baker, of Enid, OK; nephew, Jimmy Dean (Cindy) Baker and their children, Tanner (Stefani) Baker and their children, Sofie and Callen, all of Enid, OK, and Chase Baker, of Edmond, OK; niece, Jina (Doug) Kapka of Enid, OK, and their daughter, Anne Kapka of Norman, OK; and nephews, Eric Weida and Erin Weida, both of Enid, OK.

He is preceded in death by Diane Johnson, his wife of 57 years; parents, William and Elsie Weida; brother, Rudy Weida; brother-in-law, Jim Baker; brother-in-law, Leonard Harwood and sister-in-law, Mavis Harwood.

Services for retired Lt. Col. Ralph E. Weida will be held at The Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Rd, Dixon, CA 95620, on Friday, September 10, 2021, at 2:30 p.m.
