Edward Bennett "Ben" Webster, age 82 and resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, in the Bartlesville Health & Rehab Center.
Ben was born on March 11, 1935 in Bartlesville. He was the son of Glenn B. Webster and Eudora (Edwards) Webster. He was a life-long resident of Bartlesville where he attended school (Limestone Elementary, Central Jr. High School and he graduated from College High School). After high school, he continued his education by attending Oklahoma A&M where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering. During his college years, he became a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon.
He enlisted in the U.S. Armed Forces in 1962 and was honorably discharged in 1964.
Ben was co-owner of Superior Welding Co., Superior Manufacturing Co. and Superior Sales from 1974-1999. In his younger years, Ben had worked for his father at Superior Welding starting in 1962, before he and his brother, Don, purchased the business in 1974. He semi-retired when the business was sold in 1999. Life was enjoyed to the fullest with love for sailing at Grand Lake and the islands with Bill Kirberger and friends, scuba diving, golf and extensive travel.
In June of 1970, Ben and Malissa Billingsley were united in marriage in Tulsa, Oklahoma and they made their home in Bartlesville. She preceded him in death. To them was born a son, Scott.
Survivors include his son, Scott Webster of Los Angeles, California; adopted son, Ryan Webster of Bartlesville; brother, Donald Webster and his wife, Ann (Blachly) Webster, of Bartlesville; three grandchildren; and two nieces and five nephews.
Ben was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Eudora Webster; his wife, Malissa; sister, Shirley Ann (Webster) Lacy; and adopted son, Mike Webster.
The family would like to express a special thank-you to his devoted caregiver of several years, Denise Benton and to the managers and friends at Tallgrass Estates. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the YMCA, 101 N. Osage, Bartlesville, OK 74003; or to the SPCA Animal Shelter, 16620 State Highway 123, Bartlesville, OK 74006.
At Ben's request, there will be no formal service. A private family Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date.
