Ruth Lynn (Swearingen) Weaver

Ruth Lynn (Swearingen) Weaver
May 21, 1944 ~ August 12, 2021

Bartlesville - Ruth Lynn Weaver, 77, passed away from multiple myeloma on August 12, 2021 at her home in Bartlesville, surrounded by her family.

Lynn leaves behind her husband, Phil Weaver; their four children Jennifer Tate, Mike Weaver and wife Melodee, Darren Weaver and wife Melody, and Stephanie Longoria; their grandchildren Carlee Tate-Williams and husband Drew, Clay Tate and wife Jennifer, Jacob Longoria, Jaslynn Weaver, Jenna Weaver, Jillian Weaver, and Aquarius Bright; and their great-grandchildren Cain Howeth, Dallas Williams, and Case Williams.

Lynn is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, and her son-in-law Chuck Tate.

Lynn was born on May 21, 1944, in Leavenworth, KS, to Ruth Viola Swearingen (Parsons) and Vernon Ray Swearingen. Lynn was the youngest of seven children: Lucille Scott, Dale Swearingen, Meredith Jones, Rita Rounda, Joanne Chambers, and Vernon Swearingen.

After graduating from Leavenworth High School, she attended the University of Kansas in Lawrence, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Education. Lynn met Phil at KU and they married on July 5, 1963. Phil and Lynn moved to Garden City, KS in 1966, where Phil was an on-air personality for KIUL radio. Lynn had a career in health care, where she was an X-Ray and Mammography Technologist for several hospitals and practices in western Kansas and the Oklahoma Panhandle. Lynn especially loved her job in Mobile Mammography, while also maintaining a photography business with Phil where they provided portraiture and photographs of weddings and events. Phil and Lynn moved from Garden City to Bartlesville in 1996 and Lynn continued her career in Diagnostic Imaging at Jane Phillips Hospital and The Imaging Center. Lynn loved her work while always putting first her family, and she and Phil dedicated their life to the rearing of their four children.

Lynn's life revolved around serving others and making a warm, loving, safe, and beautiful home for her family. Lynn loved decorating the house for holidays, and always made each one a fun and memorable time. She was known for finding new games for her family to play and she created wonderful meals for each occasion; her children and grandchildren will have many of her delicious recipes and dishes to make in her honor at family gatherings. Lynn was happiest when she was surrounded by her family, making memories together, and she especially loved to see her grandchildren and keep abreast of their lives and adventures and achievements. She will be missed intensely by her family, her brothers and sisters in Christ from the Adams Boulevard Church of Christ, and her many colleagues and friends who loved her over the years. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at noon on Saturday, September 25th, 2021, at the Hillcrest Country Club, 1901 Price Road in Bartlesville. Please join her family and friends in honoring her life and celebrating the love and fun and goodness that she added to the world, and if you care to, share a favorite story about Lynn and why you loved and appreciated her.
