Cloyd Dewane Weathers, a long-time resident of the Eva, OK community died on October 3, 2020. He was born April 1, 1930 in Ulysses, KS to Jess and Sarah Weathers. He spent his early childhood in Great Bend, KS and helped the family by holding many jobs through his early years.
The family moved to Elkhart, KS where Cloyd graduated from Elkhart High School in 1949. While attending EHS, he met his future wife Patricia Ann White, whom he married on October 17, 1949. Cloyd and Patricia celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary shortly before her death on December 4, 2017. Cloyd and Patricia farmed and ranched in the Eva community for over 50 years where they raised their family and were active supporters of Yabrough School. Upon retirement, Cloyd and Patricia moved to Cypress, TX for six years, then relocated to Durant where they lived until their passing.
Cloyd was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia, his father, Jess, his mother and step-father Sarah and Wesley Carter, and four sisters: Ruth Ward, Ruby Crawford, Beverly Priest, Mary Ellen Penick and brothers, Alvin and Keith Weathers. He is survived by his children, Debra Jean Hickey and husband Charles of Reydon, OK; son, David Weathers, and wife Diane of Cypress, TX; daughter, Leanna Olson and husband Al of Durant, OK; daughter, Valerie Mathews, and husband Hayden of Durant, OK; sister-in-law, Sue Ferguson and husband Blaine of Houston, TX; 16 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren and counting and 2 great great grandchildren, as well as numerous other family and friends.
Local arrangements are being rendered by Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma.
