Lena (Booker) Watts

March 24, 1918 ~ July 2, 2005

Lena Watts (Booker) Viewing begins today Friday, July 8, 2005, at 11 a.m., with an hour of meditation to be held from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., in the Chapel of Ruckers Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 9, 2005, 11 a.m., at Jerusalem Mission COGIC, 924 Cottonwood Rd. Pastor Frank Madkins of Oakland, CA, is officiating with interment to follow at Union Cemetery.

Lena Booker was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma on March 24, 1918, to the proud parents, Ed and Annie Booker.

Later their family moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where she attended the local schools.

Lena met Frank Watts and shortly after, they were united in marriage on June 4, 1938. they moved to California in 1942. From that union twelve children were born, Maxine, Hazel, Barbara, Frank Jr., Betty, Joyce, Willard, Jacqueline, Carl, Gwen, Leon and Arlene. Lena was a fun loving person, well liked by everyone and full of life.

She was a homemaker, always tending to her children and grandchildren. She really enjoyed eating good gourmet food.

Lena loved the Lord and loved going to church and reading her bible. She also loved telling people about Jesus. She was a faithful member of Jerusalem Mission Church of God. In Christ, Pastor Rev. Freddie Thomas.

In 2001, Lena moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where she passed away Saturday, July 2, 2005.

Lena Watts was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Watts; son, Willard and daughter, Hazel.

She leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her homegoing: her three sons, Frank Watts, Jr. of Oakland, CA, Carl Watts of Las Vegas, NV and Leon Watts of Bakersfield, CA; seven daughters, Maxine Eddington and husband, Rev. Billy Eddington, Barbara Decree, Joyce Jackson and husband, Edward Jackson, Jacqueline Greenwood, Arelene Johnson, all of Bakersfield, CA, Betty Jenkins, Gwendolyn Williams-Hamilton and husband, Bert Hamilton of Las Vegas, NV; three sisters, Olivia Thomas, Opal Jones, Helen Riley of Oklahoma city, OK; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, other loving relatives cherished friends and church family.
