George "Buddy" Wattenburger
July 23, 1950 ~ July 15, 2020

George "Buddy" Wattenburger, July 23, 1950 - July 15, 2020 (age 69). Buddy attended Muskogee Public Schools and graduated with Muskogee High School Class of 1971. While attending Muskogee High School Buddy was known as a friend to everyone. He was elected president of the Riot Squad and was a member of Teens for Christ and American Field Service. He also served as manager of the baseball team and was elected president of his homeroom. He was also chosen as Most Spirited male in Senior Who's Who by the Class of 1971.

Following graduation Buddy remained a true Rougher. He could always be found at home football games, often in his green blazer. He was proud of the Roughers, his school, and his hometown. He could be seen pushing his lawnmower across the east side of Muskogee as a hardworking one-man yard service. He remembered every classmate and knew the latest information about them. His humor was a reminder that laughter cures many ills. His kind and gentle spirit was a light to all.

Buddy is survived by a sister, Gerty Katherine Francine Smith; nieces, Lynn Kesner and Kim Martinez, and nephews Tim Smith and Ken Smith. He leaves a host of friends who loved him dearly.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 29 at 2:00 PM at Boulevard Christian Church, 1700 W. Shawnee, with Steve Moss officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Mike Massey, Mike Tickel, Tim Andrews, and Mike Kummers.

Chairs are spaced for social distancing and masks are optional. The memorial will be live streamed on the church website at https://bccok.com.
