Robert “Bob” Henry Watson, a Cushing resident, passed away on August 16, 2020 at the Muskogee Veteran’s Hospital, Muskogee, Oklahoma at the age of 91. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Friday, August 21, 2020 at Fayetteville National Cemetery, Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2020.
Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, Oklahoma.
Bob was born on August 19, 1928 in Yale, Oklahoma to the late William H. and Opal (Dickerson) Watson. He grew up in Yale, graduating from Yale High School. Bob joined the U.S. Navy and served during WWII. After returning from the service, he worked for his dad at his grocery stores as a butcher. Bob eventually took over the grocery stores from his dad. He enjoyed bird hunting and painting. Bob lived in Yale most of his life then moved to Rogers, Arkansas where he retired. After having ill health, he moved to Cushing to be close to his son and family.
He will be missed by his family and friends.
Bob is survived by his son Bill Watson and wife Cindy of Cushing, grandchildren Jamie Hurst, Amber Watson, Amanda Harris, Jessica Brown, Alesa Francis, Kari Zickefoose and Shea Watson, great grandchildren Landon Brown, Carson Brown, Raylee Francis, Brynlee Harris, Rylee Harris, Alexus Hurst, Mercedes Hurst, Tyler Hurst, Kellen Hurst and Ashton Swathwood. He was also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sons Robert Craig Watson and Robert Terrell Watson, granddaughter Tara Swathwood, sisters Billie Sue Percell and Uldine Brown.
