Margie (Haddock) Watson

December 19, 1925 ~ September 12, 2010

Margie Haddock Watson, 84 of Columbia, Missouri passed away on September 12 at her home.

Memorial service will be Friday, September 17 at 4:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Columbia. A reception to celebrate her life will follow at Margie's home.

She was born December 19, 1925, in Kemp, Oklahoma to the late Curt and Miranda Haddock.

Margie was very proud to be a military wife, marrying a career Air Force Pilot, and the love of her life, James Eli Watson, III, on May 24, 1946, in Phoenix, Arizona. Afterwards, traveling and living all over the US and Europe, while raising three daughters, whom she loved dearly.

A very stylish and beautiful woman, Margie was known for her ability as a great hostess, able to meet, greet and entertain on a moments notice as a military officer's wife and later here with the University of Missouri. She was President of the Officers Wives Club in New York and Washington D. C. Margie was a gracious volunteer at the Museum of Art and Archeology at the University of Missouri and as a Deacon at the First Presbyterian Church of Columbia. Margie and Jim were enthusiastic travelers where Margie excelled at planning and organizing their trips.

Survivors include her daughters, Carol Watson Fleisher, husband David and Ann Watson Nadler, husband John all of Columbia; brother, Clovis Curtis Haddock, wife Dianne of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Matthew Watson Murphy, wife Janet of Cape Girardeau, Michael Jason Murphy, wife Nancy of Littleton, Colorado, James Michael Dorman, wife Katy of Columbia, and Jennifer Ann Dorman of Harrisburg; great-grandchildren, Jessica Hanson of Littleton, Colorado, Lydia Elaine Murphy, Sophie Watson Murphy both of Cape Girardeau, Olivia Dorman and Timothy Dorman both of Harrisburg; niece, Debbie Haddock Wallis; nephew, Curt Haddock; son-in-law Michael Lewis Dorman of Columbia and former son-in-law Dennis Michael Murphy of Montana; a long time Bridge Club of dear friends; and two dogs, Charlie and Heather II.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Eli Watson, III on June 14, 1998; a daughter, Nancy Susan Watson Dorman on March 10, 1998; and a brother, Wyman Haddock.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Central Missouri Humane Society, 616 Big Bear Blvd, Columbia, Missouri or the First Presbyterian Church, 16 Hitt Street, Columbia, Missouri 65201.
