Hank Alan Watson

Hank Alan Watson
November 22, 1948 - January 22, 2024

Hank Alan Watson, age 75 of Durant, Oklahoma, died at his home on Monday, January 22, 2024.

Hank was born in Pleasant Hill, Oklahoma on November 22, 1948 to parents Creson and Susan Watson.

He lived in Oklahoma until his parents moved him and his two sisters Pamela Lynne and Christina Sue to Los Angeles, California in the early 50’s. There, 5 more siblings arrived completing the young family.

Hank grew up in Southern California where he attended PolyTechnic High School in Long Beach, California and attended Brighter Day Church in Los Angeles, California with his family. Through the church, Hank enjoyed gospel singings and came to love the Lord.

Hank later enlisted in the U.S. Navy having served in Vietnam. Upon his honorable discharge from the Navy, Hank met and married his wife Dora Brave Watson and together they had 5 children. Having moved from California and a short stay in Idabel, Oklahoma, they moved to Denver, Colorado where Hank found employment with the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Aviation Administration where he worked developing maps for their company.

After his wife’s passing in 2004, Hank later married his beloved Barbara Jolene Walkingstick and together they enjoyed many outings and travels in the U.S. and abroad. A loving husband, father, sibling and grandfather, Hank dedicated his life to his family. His service in the U.S. Navy showcased his bravery, compassion and dedication both to his country and family.

Hank moved to Durant, Oklahoma in early 2003 where he became a member of the Durant Sr. Citizen Center and joined the Durant Senior Chair Volleyball team until he became too ill to continue. Hank stated he met many wonderful people who made him feel welcome and where he enjoyed many laughs when he occasionally missed the ball which was often.

Hank’s legacy will be carried on by his loving family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

If you saw Hank, he would give you a quick wave or hold a quiet conversation and you would leave knowing you made a true friend. He will be deeply missed but his spirit and memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wives Dora Brave Watson and Barbara Jolene Walkingstick Watson, son Alan Vaughn Watson, brothers Charles Alvin Watson and Randall Watson.
