Nala Jane Watkins, 78, of Ponca City, OK, left this life on February 28, 2023. A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Trout Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, 505 W. Grand Ave, Ponca City, OK, 74601.
Nala was born on September 28, 1944, in Ponca City, OK, to Rusty and Eileen (Chitum) Scovill. Nala graduated in 1962 from Glen Burnie High School, Glen Burnie, MD. Nala met Jim Watkins while they both worked for the NSA in Maryland, and were married in Glen Burnie, on November 20, 1965. Jim preceded her in death on April 10, 2012. She worked in radio advertising sales for many years.
Nala enjoyed cooking, reading and gardening.
Nala is survived by: daughters, Karen Payne and husband, Jesse, of Ponca City, OK, Kirsten Harbeson and husband, Eric, of Bloomfield, NM; grandchildren, Rachael Jane Watkins-Waner, and husband, Brian, of South Korea, Matt Graves, Josh Graves, Dan Graves, Austin Payne, Luke Payne and Aaryn Harbeson; great-grandchild, Milo Watkins-Waner; sisters, Betsy Keyes of Tulsa, OK, Cindy Bearskin of Ponca City, OK; brother, Ed Scovill of Stillwater, OK; son-in-law, Mark Graves; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Jim; son, Kirk Watkins; daughter, Kelli Graves; her parents; and sister, Linda Burney.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Oklahoma, 445 Fairview Ave, Ponca City, OK, 74601.
