Larry Watkins, 70 year old Mooreland resident, passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2022 in Mooreland, Oklahoma. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2022 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Billings Funeral Home in Woodward, Oklahoma.
Larry Glen Watkins was born May 5, 1951 in Mooreland, Oklahoma to Forrest and Bonnie Mae (Taylor) Watkins. He grew up in Mooreland and attended Quinlan Elementary School and graduated from Mooreland High School as a member of the National Honor Society. He joined the United States Navy in 1970 and was in Aviation Ordnanceman on the USS JFK (CVA67). He traveled the seas and spoke of his love of Greece, where he lived for a short time during his service. He was honorably discharged in 1970. Larry married Betsy Watkins and to this union, they were blessed with a daughter, Jennifer Kay Watkins. Larry also lived in Texas and he worked as a trucker and a farmer.
He enjoyed his daughter, loyal friends, road trips, art, motorcycles, sprint cars, the ocean, possibilities, artwork, mechanics, photography, watching rodeos, and feeling free.
Larry is survived by his daughter Jennifer Kay Watkins; sisters Linda Easter and husband Eddie; Lois Brake and husband Jerry and their respective families; while he had no biological grandchildren, he adopted Ariana Fields in his heart; loyal friends, Wayne Lookingbill, Angelita Serrano Vargas, Kim Burk, Tracy Johnson, and Matt Tune.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bonnie and Forrest Watkins, and his former Betsy Watkins.
