Wesley Charles Ward, 63, of Skiatook, Oklahoma, died Monday, September 16, 2019.
Wesley was born August 26, 1956 in Wichita, Kansas, to parents Charles Ward and Berdene Zirkle Griggs.
He received his Doctorate of Ministry from Drew University and pastored several churches in Girard, Kansas; Sedalia, Missouri; California, Pennsylvania; and Hominy, Oklahoma. He finished his life working for the Osage Casino in surveillance.
Wesley married Jeanine (Wunder) Ward on January 9, 1988 and he precedes her in death.
Even though Wesley left pastoring churches, he continued to pastor people, helping them through trials in their lives and encouraging young adults to continue their education past high school.
He enjoyed traveling and studying history.
Wesley is preceded in death by his mother and father.
He is survived by his wife Jeanine Ward; brother Mike Ward of El Dorado, Kansas; sister Valerie Pratt of Mannford, Oklahoma; daughters Amber Fechter of Topeka, Kansas and Diane McAuliffe, also of Topeka, Kansas and aunts Betty Steinly of Greenville, Texas and Bonnie Woods of Plano, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to The Journey Home or to Westside Christian Church at 432 SW Lindenwood Ave. in Topeka, Kansas 66606.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
