June 15, 1934 ~ March 30, 2017

Shirley M. Ward, 82, retired Administrative Assistant for the Department of Energy, passed away in Owasso, Oklahoma on March 30, 2017. 

Shirley was born on June 15, 1934 in Scranton, Pennsylvania to parents Robert and Blanche (Gorecki) Moss. She was a member of the 1952 graduating class of Montgomery Blair High School in Maryland. 

For Shirley, spending time with her family was the thing that she treasured most. Family was always her main focus, and they brought her a tremendous amount of joy and pride. Shirley always stayed active and her list of hobbies and interests was wide and varied. She enjoyed listening to Big Band Music, dancing, bowling, and golf. Shirley had a love for the outdoors, whether it was working in her garden or traveling to one of her favorite beaches in Destin, Florida or Ocean City, Maryland. Shirley also enjoyed knitting, painting, and reading. She had an active, inquisitive mind and a true zest for life. Shirley was an amazing woman, and she will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends. 

Shirley is survived by her four children, Diane Franklin of Fairmont, West Virginia, Deborah Schwegman and husband Doug of Bartlesville, Frank Gibbs of Marietta, Georgia and Sharon Lewis and husband Gary of Middletown, Maryland; five grandchildren, Ashley Hady and husband Andrew, Brian Lewis, Nick DuVarney, Michael Lewis and Delaney Gibbs; a sister, Bernice Polen of Lexington, South Carolina and numerous nieces and nephews who loved her very much. 

Funeral services have not yet been set but will be announced by Stumpff Funeral Home at a later date. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Alzheimer's Association of Oklahoma, 2448 E. 81st St., Suite 3000, Tulsa, OK 74137 in Shirley's name.
